2022 Teachers Conference Presenters
Brandi has been working in the field of Early Childhood Education for more than 25 years. She has taught in classrooms for children, birth to school age, and for the last 17 years has served as a director at multiple preschools in the Central Florida area. Brandi also mentors new directors, conducts personalized training, and has a passion for implementing Developmentally Appropriate Practice into early childhood programs, as well as, supporting teachers and leadership in their careers. Brandi's call to Early Childhood Education continues to cultivate her love of the field as she endeavors to share her knowledge and skills with others.
Mary is the Assistant Director at Anastasia Baptist Academy. She thrives on bringing joy to each day. Mary has over 14 years of experience in the Early Childhood Education environment. She has spent over a decade in the Toddler Classroom and taught for many years in the VPK Classroom. She greatly enjoys spending Sundays in the Toddler Room teaching our youngest children the Love of Christ. Mary’s passion for song and dance creates a wonderful and warm learning environment. Her greatest joy is touching the lives of children who as young adults, still remember their classroom family with Ms. Mary. Mary holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative Writing. She earned her Teaching Certification in K-6 in the State of Florida and continues her early childhood education through online classes, conferences and trainings.
Mary loves her Island life and can always be found surrounded by seashells and coastal creatures. She enjoys paddle boarding and boating with her husband and teenage children. She is an avid animal lover, crafter, tap dancer and appreciates live music. Mary has a strong love for early childhood manipulatives, felt stories, hand ryhmes and free art. Her husband and teenagers humor her and her love of all things toddler as they are often her practice audience. Mary loves hugs, a good laugh and is a curious learner.
Kelly Thigpen graduated from Flagler College with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and Saint Leo University with a Masters in Educational Leadership. Kelly taught in a public school setting for 7 years in varying grade levels: 1st, 3rd and 5th. Currently she works for the St. Johns County School District as the Coordinator of Character Education and Community Partnerships. Through her experience in this position, she has been tasked to write curriculum on student leadership and character development for Pre-K- college-aged students. She also oversees all CHARACTER COUNTS!, Link Crew, WEB, B6, and Sources of Strength Mental Wellness for 43 schools in the district. Kelly is continually training teachers and administrators on how to integrate character education into the FLDOE standards across the district and loves to be challenged to create engagement for all ages. Kelly also oversees all of the Faith-Based initiatives within the school district and really sees that as an open door that the Lord has placed in the public school setting for relationships to be built between pastors and school leaders.
